Traffic Shifts: 2015 New Year's Eve Celebration in Fredericksburg

Anticipate traffic shifts in preparation for this year's New Year's Eve celebration in the Sophia Street area in Fredericksburg.


Officials are already prepping Fredericksburg residents and commuters for various traffic changes during the city’s ’2015 First Night Fredericksburg’ celebration of the New Year’s Eve holiday.

Traffic: Sophia Street from George to Wolfe Street and 100 blocks of Charlotte and Hanover Street will close from 3 p.m. Dec. 31 through 2 a.m. Jan. 1. Public parking lots in the 600-900 blocks of Sophia Street will close from 6 a.m. to 3 a.m. Pay close attention to posted parking signs.

Event details: The family-friendly, alcohol free celebration with live entertainment, food, vendors, children’s games & activities and more will be held from 7 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. Advanced tickets are $5 before Dec. 28. Tickets are available online for a pre-sale discount of $5 now through Dec. 29. Tickets will be on sale for $10 from Dec. 30-31 at the following locations:

General admission tickets are required for visitors above the age of four. Children 3 and under are admitted free of charge. The event will be held rain or shine.
