VA Store Closings: 17 Justice, 9 Catherine's, 1 LOFT Outlet

VIRGINIA — The parent company of clothing retailers including Justice, Lane Bryant, Ann Taylor, LOFT, Catherine's, Lou & Grey and Cacique filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Ascena Retail Group announced plans this week to close about half its 2,800 stores, including 76 Ann Taylor, LOFT and Lou & Grey stores, more than 600 Justice stores and all Catherine's plus-size clothing store locations. All locations outside the U.S. will also close.

Disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the company said the last few months negatively impacted "meaningful progress" which was being made to get the company back on track financially.

In Virginia, 17 Justice stores will reportedly close. The "tween" clothing store, which caters to girls ages 6 to 12, has more than 800 stores across the country.

These are the Justice stores that will close in Virginia, USA Today reported:

• Chesapeake
• Danville
• Fairfax
• Fredericksburg
• Harrisonburg
• Henrico
• Lynchburg
• Newport News
• Norfolk
• Richmond
• Roanoke
• Springfield
• Sterling (two stores)
• Virginia Beach
• Winchester
• Woodbridge

Ascena operates nine Catherine's stores in Virginia, which will all close:

• Chesapeake
• Colonial Heights
• Fredericksburg
• Hampton
• Lynchburg
• Mechanicsville
• Norfolk
• Richmond
• Roanoke

LOFT Outlet will close in Potomac Mills Mall, 2700 Potomac Mills Circle, according to Business Insider.

More closures could also be announced. The final number and locations of stores that are closing has not yet been determined, the company stated in the news release. Ascena previously closed all Dressbarn stores last year, including 20 in Virginia.
