<p>Virginia Heritage at Lee's Parke residents held a ribbon cutting Wednesday to celebrate the installation of a <a href="http://www.nbcwashington.com/video/#!/news/local/Va--Community-Celebrates-New-Traffic-Light/280263182" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">new stoplight</a> after a car accident near the retirement community killed a resident in 2006.</p><p>After years of lobbying for a safer intersection, residents finally got their wish for a stoplight at the intersection of Bluff Road, Whiteheart Drive and the four-lane Spotsylvania Parkway, NBC Washington reports.</p><p>The Virginia Department of Transportation originally conducted studies in 2008 and 2012 that concluded there wasn't enough traffic to warrant installing a $300,000 traffic signal.
