Virginia To Hold I-95 Public Meetings In Fredericksburg, Lorton
Virginia transportation officials are planning a final round of meetings on I-95 improvements in Fredericksburg and Lorton.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Virginia transportation officials are planning a final round of meetings on possible improvements and changes to the Interstate 95 corridor between the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in Alexandria and the North Carolina border. The set of public meetings are planned for Jan. 27-30 along the corridor.
The Virginia Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and the Department of Rail and Public Transportation, under the leadership of the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB), have been studying Virginia's 179 miles of I-95.
The CTB worked on a "data-driven study" to develop an I-95 Corridor Improvement Plan, which identified key problem areas along the corridor, potential solutions and areas for additional review and study. The CTB plans to report the study's findings to the Virginia General Assembly during the 2020 legislative session.

This final series of public meetings will be focused on reviewing results of the study's findings, which include development of a corridor-wide operations and arterial roadway upgrade plan for implementation. Locations requiring additional study also have been identified. The meetings will include a brief presentation followed by an open house, which will allow the public to speak one-on-one with study team members.
The first in this series of meetings will be held in Fredericksburg on Jan. 27 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Fredericksburg District Auditorium at 87 Deacon Rd. VDOT staff will be available from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to review plan materials and answer questions. At the same location on the same day, a presentation will be made from 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. as part of the Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization public meeting.
