What's Open, Closed For Labor Day 2020 In Fredericksburg

As the unofficial end of summer approaches, here are the service changes to know for the Labor Day holiday.

FREDERICKSUBRG, VA — Summer may have looked different this year because of the pandemic, but Labor Day is still the time to bid the season farewell before pools close.

In Fredericksburg, there are various closings and schedule changes to know for the holiday. City offices will be closed on Labor Day. Schools in the area started distance learning in August, but will be closed on Labor Day.

Below are the schedule changes to know for the Sept. 7, Labor Day holiday in the Fredericksburg area:

Fredericksburg government offices: City of Fredericksburg government offices are closed on Monday, Sept. 7.

Courts: Courts do not operate on Monday, Sept. 7. See operating updates from the Fredericksburg Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court.

Fredericksburg City Public Schools: Sept. 7 is an observed holiday. Students will return to distance learning on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Spotsylvania County Public Schools: Sept. 7 is an observed holiday. Students will return to distance learning on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Stafford County Public Schools: Sept. 7 is an observed holiday. Students will return to distance learning on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Animal shelter: The SPCA of Fredericksburg is conducting adoptions of animals by appointment only.

Parks and Recreation: All trails and parks are open.

Fredericksburg Visitor Center: The visitor center is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 7.

Fredericksburg Regional Transit: In observance of Labor Day, Fredericksburg Regional Transit will not operate transit service on Monday, Sept. 7. All administrative also offices will be closed.

Virginia Railway Express: VRE will not be providing service on Monday, Sept. 7.

Libraries: Library branches in the Central Rappahannock Regional Library system, including the Fredericksburg branch, are allowing curbside pickup of materials placed on hold. However, libraries will be closed on Monday, Sept. 7.

Post offices: Closed on Monday, Sept. 7.

Fredericksburg trash & recycling: Labor Day holiday will not affect curbside trash/recycle collection in Fredericksburg. The Belman Road Recycling Center and the Stafford Landfill will be closed Sunday and Monday. Both will resume normal operations Tuesday, Sept. 8 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
