What's Open, Closed On Memorial Day 2021 In Fredericksburg

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — For some, Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer, a time for barbecues, pool parties, and yard games. For others, it is a time for somber remembrance, to honor servicemembers who died in the line of duty.

For those looking to honor servicemembers, the Wear Blue Run To Remember is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, May 31. Participants can also choose to participate and log their miles virtually.

When participants register for the Wear Blue Run, they are given one of more than 65,000 names of people who died in the line of duty since the beginning of the Vietnam War. The goal of to run is to keep the memory of these servicemembers alive.

The Fredericksburg leg of the Wear Blue Run will begin at 2201 Caroline Street in Fredericksburg.

Fredericksburg Government Offices: Closed on May 31.

Spotsylvania County Government Offices: All county offices and facilities are closed on May 31.

Livingston Landfill: Closed on May 31.

Stafford County Government Offices: Closed on May 31.

State Courts: Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court are closed on May 31.

Fredericksburg Public Schools: Closed on May 31.

Spotsylvania County Public Schools: Closed on May 31.

Stafford County Public Schools: Closed on May 31.

Fredericksburg Trash & Recycling: Regular service on May 31.

Central Rappahannock Regional Library: All branches will be closed on May 31, including curb-side pickup.

Post Offices: Closed May 31.

FRED Transit: FRED Transit will not operate on May 31.

VRE: Closed on May 31.
