What's Open, Closed For Veterans Day 2020 In Fredericksburg
Veterans Day falls on Wednesday. Here are the schedule changes to know in Fredericksburg, along with special events.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Veterans Day, a federal holiday to honor those who have served in the military, will mean some schedule changes in Fredericksburg.
The Fredericksburg area is honoring veterans in various ways. The Central Rappahannock Regional Library system is commemorating Veterans Day with a special booklist. The list includes books for all ages about past wars. The list also includes a link to resources to assist veterans with transitioning to civilian life or achieving their goals in education and business or finding housing.
The Fredericksburg Area Museum, in conjunction with Hallowed Ground Tours, is holding a special walking tour of Lower Caroline Street in honor of Veterans Day on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. The 90-minute walk will focus on veterans from the nation's wars who lived in the area.

The cost is $8 per person or $4 for Fredericksburg Area Museum members. Advanced reservations are required. Payment can be made at the museum prior to the event, or the day of to the guide. Attendees will meet in the commuter parking lot at the corner of Caroline and Frederick Streets.

Below are the schedule changes to know for the holiday in Fredericksburg.
City of Fredericksburg government offices: Closed on Nov. 11
Fredericksburg City Schools: Open on Nov. 11.
Fredericksburg Visitor Center: Open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 11.
Local and state courts: Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court are closed on Nov. 11.
Virginia Railway Express: VRE does not operate on Veterans Day. For more information, visit www.vre.org.
Fredericksburg Regional Transit: Operating on its regular service schedule on Nov. 11.
Fredericksburg SPCA: Open noon to 6 p.m. on Nov. 11.
Libraries: On Nov. 11, the Central Rappahannock Regional Library system will be open for Library Express appointments and curbside pickup.
Post offices: Veterans Day is observed as a holiday at the U.S. Postal Service.
Trash Collection: Curbside trash/recycling collection schedules will not be affected by the holiday.
Recycling/Landfill: The Regional Landfill on Eskimo Hill Road and the Belman Convenience Center will be open.
