County Supervisors Delay Vote on Bock's Farm Rezoning

Also, a reader clears up "misrepresentations" made in a previously published Letter to the Editor about the rezoning issue.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to defer the decision on the Bock Farm rezoning, special exceptions and land deletion requests until Feb. 14, 2017, according to the Mt. Vernon Residents Against Rezoning blog.

"Supervisor Storck mentioned he was committed to a 55+ independent living facility, but also noted that it was a complex case," the blog states.

Reader Ellen Young also notified Patch on Monday, regarding a previously published Letter to the Editor about the rezoning, that there were several "misrepresentations" in the letter:

"The MVCCA did not vote to 'recuse.' The vote was to rescind our previous Resolution to not oppose the rezoning of Bock Farm. We did NOT vote to oppose (nor is there "massive opposition"), the new Resolution merely reflects that the MVCCA does not have an opinion on this matter. In addition, we do not insert ourselves into internal legal matters (re: the covenant mentioned in the letter), and this point was made in last week's meeting.

In fact, the motion to rescind was made by the President of an Association (not Williamsburg North) whose representatives did not attend the pertinent committee meetings where the rezoning was discussed, nor the General Council meeting during which the original Resolution to not oppose was passed.

ALL of our proposed resolutions are publicized. We can't, however make people read or pay attention. Representatives of Williamsburg North DID attend committee meetings where this rezoning was discussed, but did not attend the General Council meeting where it passed.

Further, had the Board been told that this motion would be made last week, we would have publicized that so that all members would know and have the opportunity to attend. As it happens, members who rarely attend chose not to follow our long-standing protocol."
