Fort Belvoir Commander to Speak at Chamber Breakfast

Col. Angie Holbrook Holbrooke will provide an update on the installation and plans for improvements at Chamber breakfast Feb. 9.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- Col. Angie Holbrooke, Fort Belvoir Commander, will speak at the Feb. 9 business breakfast of the Mount Vernon Lee Chamber of Commerce, the group announced Friday. Holbrooke will provide an update on the installation and plans for improvements.

The Chamber will also renew its Community Covenant with Fort Belvoir. The breakfast is Feb. 9, 8 – 9:30 a.m., at Belle Haven Country Club, 6023 Fort Hunt Road. The cost is $25 per person for Chamber members and $35 for those who are not a member of the Chamber. You can register for the breakfast online at www.MtVernon-LeeChamber.org or call 703-360-6925.

Colonel Angelia “Angie” Holbrook, a native of Little Rock, Ark., is a 1991 graduate of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She was commissioned a branch-detailed officer in the Air Defense Artillery Corps.

2nd Lt. Holbrook’s first posting was as a HAWK Missile Platoon Leader, C Battery, 1/52nd Air Defense Artillery Battalion, Fort Lewis, Wash. With the inactivation of her battalion in 1993, 1st Lt. Holbrook was reassigned back to her basic branch, Adjutant General Corps.

She has been stationed around the world in a wide variety of human resources assignments, from the Republic of Korea to two combat postings in Iraq. She has served with distinction from the platoon level to battalion command and numerous other strategic, enterprise-level postings, including Headquarters, Department of the Army and Army Human Resources Command. Col. Holbrook also served as the Deputy Executive Officer to the 39th Army Chief of Staff.

Her military education includes ADA Officer Basic Course; AG Officer Advanced Course; U.S. Army Command and General Staff College; and senior service college at The Eisenhower School, National Defense University. She also holds a master’s degree in National Security and Resource Strategy from The Eisenhower School, National Defense University, Washington, D.C. and a master’s in Human Resource Management from Webster University.

Her awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit; Bronze Star Medal (with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster); the Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC); the Joint Service Commendation Medal; the Army Commendation Medal; the Army Achievement Medal (5 OLC); the Army Service Ribbon; the Korean Defense Service Medal; the National Defense Service Medal (w/1 star); the Iraqi Campaign Medal (w/3 stars); the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; the Overseas Ribbon (3); the Joint Meritorious Unit Award; the Army Meritorious Unit Commendation; the HQDA staff identification badge and the parachutist badge.

Col. Holbrook also has been awarded the Horatio Gates Gold Medal, which recognizes significant accomplishments in the Adjutant General Corps Regiment. She is the national president of the Women’s Mentorship Network, a non-profit network empowering women to reach their full potential in military service.

Col. Holbrook and her husband of 22 years, Maj. Herb Holbrook, have one son.
