Fort Hunt Gets a New Day Spa
Body and Sol aims to be a quick respite from a hectic day.
Fort Hunt residents looking to escape the stress of everyday life might find solace in a new day spa.
Body and Sol, which officially opened on Monday, offers an array of spa services aiming to be a quick respite for residents of all ages.
Nestled between the Fort Hunt Animal Hospital and , the spa is taking the place of a closed-down coffee shop on Elkin street.

“I think it is a great gift for the community”, said co-partner Jenny Burke, a Washington Mills Elementary School mom.
One of the more popular treatments is the Aqua Massage, which combines water and heat therapy into one machine. Sheila Barnes, a co-partner of the spa, said 20-minutes of the Aqua Massage is the equivalent of one hour of a traditional hands-on massage.

“People actually fall asleep while they are lying there,” said Barnes.
Some of the spa’s other services include a hydration station, a spray tan machine, oxygen aromatherapy, and a UV tanning bed, among others. Prices for the various treatments hover around $20 to $25 dollars per session.
Barnes, who works at , said each of the services have been well researched and reviewed by medical professionals.
Tammy Oldham, a Fort Hunt Elementary school mom, is another partner on the project.
They first started making plans for the spa back in January. Barnes said they conducted market research, which found that local residents were looking for a good nearby restaurant and spa services.
The women also had to design a general layout of the store, work with an architect and obtain the proper permits.
“It’s been a labor of love, but we’re ready,” said Barnes. “We’re gonna sink or succeed together.”
