Free Lyft Rides Offered For Christmas, New Year's In DC, NoVA
The free rides will be available for an extended holiday period beginning Dec. 20.
WASHINGTON, DC — Christmas, New Year's Eve and other winter holiday offer fun times with family and friends, but officials urge impaired drivers to stay off the roads. The Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) and Lyft's SoberRide service is returning to DC and Northern Virginia to keep roads safe from would-be impaired drivers.
Anyone 21 and up can get a ride up to $15 using the Lyft app. The offer is good from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. between Dec. 20 and Jan. 1. Customers will cover any additional costs of a ride over $15.
SoberRide is offered throughout Lyft's Washington, D.C. coverage area, which includes all or parts of the District of Columbia; the Virginia counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William; independent cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas and Manassas Park; and the Maryland counties of Montgomery and Prince George's.

To redeem the offer, download the Lyft app and enter the promotion code in the app's promo section. The code will be posted on www.wrap.org/soberride at 9 p.m. on Dec. 20, 27 and 31.
Last Christmas and New Year's season, 1,988 people in the DC region used the SoberRide service. The program has provided 78,926 safe rides home since 1991. It operates during other high-risk holiday for impaired driving: St. Patrick's Day, Cinco de Mayo, Fourth of July and Halloween.
