MOUNT VERNON, VA—The Fourth of July is quickly approaching, which means your family can enjoy fireworks at the first president's estate. The nighttime Mount Vernon fireworks will happen June 29-20 from 6 p.m.-9:45 p.m. and daytime fireworks on July 4 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
The June-29-30 fireworks are choreographed to patriotic music. Cost with a mansion tour is $35 for adults, $25 for youth; without mansion tour is $30 for adults and $20 for youth.
July 4 fireworks over the Potomac River will be accompanied by cannon fire and military re-enactments. The cost is included in admission to the estate.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Alexandria Monday and Tuesday with heat index values as high as 106. But even with a blazing start to the holiday week, the worst could be over by mid-week.
After a sweltering 98 degrees on Tuesday, expect a high of 91 and low of 77 on Fourth of July. There are chances of thunderstorms in the afternoon, so watch the forecast if you're heading to fireworks.

Thursday: A slight chance of showers between 9 a.m. and noon, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon and before 3 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 91 and low of 77. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Friday: Showers between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., then showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. High near 89 and low of 69. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
Alexandria's Birthday Celebration (Saturday): Showers and thunderstorms likely before 9 a.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 81. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. The night will be partly cloudy with a low around 65.

Independence Day culminates with a spectacular fireworks display over the National Mall. The fireworks will be launched from the area of the Reflecting Pool, and will be visible from many locations throughout D.C. and Northern Virginia. The fireworks will be cancelled in case of heavy rain, thunderstorms or high winds.
