Fire Displaces Gum Springs Leader

A small fire broke out at the residence of Ron Chase, director of Gum Springs Historical Museum

A fire broke out at a home off of Fordson Road Sunday night causing minor damage to a single family house.

Ron Chase, of 2908 Douglas Street, called 911 at around 8:30 p.m. when he was unable to stop a microwave on the second floor of his home from smoking, according to Capt. Lorenzo Thrower, Fairfax County EMS.

Firefighters contained the blaze within 20 minutes of arriving to the scene, Thrower said. Although the fire was contained to the second floor, the house sustained smoke damage, and firefighters vented the roof in order to contain the fire.
