Magazine Calls Inova Mount Vernon A "Top Ranking" Hospital
The hospital tied for 21st place out of 57 hospitals

ranked 21st out of all 57 hospitals in the Washington, D.C. region according to U.S. News & World Report's 2010-11 ranking of area hospitals.
Washington Hospital Center in the District took the top spot, followed by Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, and Georgetown University Hospital in the District.
“We consistently work to bring the latest technologies and techniques to serve the community, and it’s very rewarding to see our hospitals named among the best,” Loring Flint, Chief Medical Officer of the Inova Health System, said in a statement.

The magazine ordered hospitals first by the number of nationally-ranked specialties it has then by the number of other specialties in which it was among the top 25 percent nationally. The ranking by metro areas is a first for the magazine, which previously only ranked the best hospitals in the country.
Inova Mount Vernon tied for 21st place with five other hospitals, putting it among the 26 hospitals in the region considered to be “top-ranking,” according to the magazine.

The Inova specialty program considered to be “top ranking” was Orthopedics. In 2009, Inova Mount Vernon Hospital earned a Gold Seal of Approval for “outstanding care” in joint replacement procedures by The Joint Commission, a national accrediting organization for hospitals
