MGM National Harbor to Host First-Ever Charity Event
Event will feature a poker tournament, wine & chef's tasting, and after-party raising money for Chance for Life pediatric cancer research.
NATIONAL HARBOR, MD -- Just across the river at MGM National Harbor, Chance for Life will be taking place April 1, the first charity event held at the new casino resort.
The event will feature a poker tournament, wine & chef’s tasting, and after party. Organizers describe the event as "a raucous, dynamic experience that is unlike any other in the Washington area." The fundraiser is being organized to fight against pediatric cancer, with 100 percent of all proceeds raised donated directly to fund cancer research through Children’s National Hospital Center and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
Chance for Life began after Brad Nierenberg became the godfather to a close friend’s daughter, Kennedy Snyder, who was diagnosed with an aggressive spinal cord tumor. After a successful fight to eradicate the tumor, it returned almost to its original size in less than three months. Kennedy’s indomitable spirit - bravery, exuberance, and persistence - is the inspiration that created Chance for Life, organizers said.

Chance for Life, taking place April 1, is going to be the first charity event held at MGM National Harbor. MGM approached CFL after attending as a sponsor last year and it was selected in hopes of raising $1 million-plus.
Since being founded 12 years ago, Chance for Life has raised more than $2 million dollars for pediatric cancer research (they grossed $410,000 in 2016).
