Mount Vernon Fireworks Show Moved To Weekend Before Christmas

The popular fireworks show synchronized to holiday music has been postponed due to expected rain.

MOUNT VERNON, VA—Mount Vernon's Christmas Illuminations event with a fireworks show has been rescheduled for Saturday, Dec. 22. The event had been originally planned for Dec. 14-15.

Organizers moved the date due to forecasted heavy rain and cloudy weather. Tickets from both nights will be automatically refunded. The event on Dec. 22 will require a new ticket purchase.

Fireworks choreographed to holiday music will begin at 8:15 p.m. Activities will precede the fireworks from 5:30 p.m.-8:15 p.m. These will include local choir performances, 18th century chocolate making, Aladdin the camel, a bonfire, hot chocolate and greetings from George and Martha Washington and re-enactors. Visitors also tour the mansion and find holiday gifts at the Shops at Mount Vernon.

Fireworks tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for kids ages 6-11; tickets for a mansion tour and fireworks are $35 for adults and $20 for kids.
