Ice Skaters to Compete at Mount Vernon RECenter Cherry Blossom Competition

Ice skaters from around the region will compete at Mount Vernon RECenter’s 35^th annual Cherry Blossom Ice Skating Competition starting Friday.

The public is invited to watch Olympic hopefuls skate in this long running and historic competition sponsored by the Capital Regional Council of Figure Skating Clubs.

Sponsored by the Capital Regional Council of Figure Skating Clubs, the competition is open to all qualified eligible skaters who are members in good standing with the U.S. Figure Skating Association. More than 100 skaters will compete in events including basic skills, singles, pairs, couples dance, solo dance, moves/spins/jumps, and showcase. Medals will be awarded for 1^st, 2^nd , 3^rd, and 4^th place finishes. 

Mount Vernon RECenter is located at  2017 Belle View Blvd. in Alexandria. The competition takes place from Friday to Sunday, starting at 9 a.m. each day. It is open to the public. Admission is free to most events. For more information, visit www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/rec/mv/mv-ice.htm.
