As we head into the summer months, it’s time to start to plan those family vacations. But you don’t have to buy a plane ticket to show yourself a good time. Here are five great ‘staycation' ideas.

1. . Grab a few bottles of Spanish wine from the Hollin Hall Shopping Center and a few friends for an exotic night at home.
2. Family Game night.  Break out the Monopoly and challenge your kids to a night of friendly competition.
3. Go Camping. Northern Virginia has numerous camp grounds, including Pohick Bay Regional Park in Lorton, where you and your family can spend time in the great outdoors.
4.   If you have been too busy to schedule an appointment at your local salon, you can have professional manicurists come to your home to give your nails a spruce-up.
5. A Weekend at the Spa. A couple of days of professional pampering and relaxation could be just what you need to transition into summer. Check into a hotel like the Lorien and treat yourself to their spa services.  Just don’t forget to leave your cell phone at home.
