Pedestrian Killed In Beacon Hill Area Crash: Police
The pedestrian was crossing at an intersection without a traffic signal or stop sign for Kings Highway traffic.

BEACON HILL, VA — A pedestrian was killed Thursday in a crash on South Kings Highway in the Beacon Hill area, according to Fairfax County Police.
The crash happened around 1:13 p.m. Thursday at the South Kings Highway and Southgate Drive intersection. Detectives determined the pedestrian was crossing South Kings Highway at the intersection from the east to west side. A southbound 2017 Dodge Journey on South Kings Highway struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police identified him as Reynaldo Quinteros Alfaro, 54, of Alexandria.
According to police, South Kings Highway is a 35 mph roadway. This intersection does not have a traffic signal or stop sign for South Kings Highway traffic, but there is a stop sign on Southgate Drive on the east side of South Kings Highway. Police noted a Virginia law requiring drivers to yield the right-of-way to pedestrians crossing "at any intersection when the driver is approaching on a highway where the speed limit is not more than 35 miles per hour."
