Police: Man Dies in Single-Car Crash in Fort Hunt
Police say the accident occurred on Sherwood Hall Lane.
Police say a 75-year-old driver died after crashing into a tree on Sherwood Hall Lane near the intersection of Midday Lane on Thursday, March 31 shortly after 9 p.m.
The driver was headed west on Sherwood Hall Lane in a 2008 Lexus when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The Lexus continued straight, off the roadway and struck a tree head-on. The driver and the 49-year-old passenger were both transported to a local hospital.
Police say the driver, August M. Cianciolo, of Mason Hill Drive, succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the crash. He was pronounced dead on Monday, April 4th.

Police say neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts.
