Police: Man Robbed While Delivering Food To Mount Vernon Home

Also: Teen boy assaulted near Fort Hunt road

The following incidents were reported by the Mount Vernon District Police station between June 15th and June 18th.

Police say a 31-year-old man was robbed while delivering food to a Mount Vernon home on Thursday, June 16 at around 1:45 p.m. When the victim entered an apartment on the 7900 block of Audubon Avenue, he was approached by a man who displayed a knife and demanded the victim’s cell phone and money.  Police say after the victim complied with the demands and the suspect fled. The suspect was described as black, about 20 years old.  He was about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds.  Police say he had dreadlocks and an unshaven beard and he wore a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

Police say a man attempted to steal a cell phone from a 42-year-old man in Mount Vernon on Saturday, June 18 around 11:10 a.m.  The suspect asked the victim to make a phone call while they stood at the bus stop located at the intersection of Buckman Road and Russell Road.  While the victim dialed the number, the suspect tried to take the phone from the victim’s and but the man was able to hold onto his phone. Police say the victim chased the suspect a short distance before losing sight of him. The suspect was described as black, about 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. Police say he wore a dark-colored shirt and tan pants. 

Police say a 16-year-old male was robbed while walking home from work on Saturday, June 18 at around 11 p.m.  At the intersection of 16th Street and I Street, the teen was approached by two other males.  The males assaulted the victim and took his bag of food then fled.  Police say the victim ran home and called police. The suspects were described as male, in their late teens to early 20s. The victim did not require medical treatment.
