Police Officer Assaulted During Field Sobriety Test

The following arrest information was supplied by the Fairfax County police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A man fled from a police officer during a field sobriety test and later assaulted him on Richmond Highway north of the Capital Beltway, police reported. At about 2:20 a.m. on March 3, Fairfax County police stopped Quenton E. Payne, 34, of Maryland, just south of the Beltway. The suspect allegedly fled from and then assaulted the officer when he was caught. Police charged Payne with driving while intoxicated, driving on a revoked license, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, assault on a police officer and possessing an open container of alcohol.

In a separate and unrelated incident, two men with guns approached a clerk outside of a check cashing business in the 6200 block of North Kings Highway on March 7 at around 10 a.m., according to police. Police said the clerk was "unable to open the final door," so the suspects fled the scene.

Also, police said three men with a gun robbed a 19-year-old pizza delivery man in the 3800 block Laramie Place on March 3 at around 9:15 p.m.
