UPDATE: Police Seek Witnesses To Fatal Car Crash

A car crashed into a 50-year old bicyclist

The bicyclist involved in the November 14th crash, died on Monday morning as a result of his injuries. Christopher Benton, who lived on the 2300 block of Windsor Road in Alexandria, was pronounced dead at 5:16 a.m. on Monday.

Police say that when a four-door 2005 Toyota Corolla attempted to turn left onto Fort Hunt road from westbound Belle Haven Road,  it collided into a 50-year old man riding a bicycle, headed eastbound, on Belle Haven Road.

The bicyclist was thrown from his bike and later medevaced to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Crash Reconstruction detectives are still looking for witnesses to the crash. Sign boards will be posted in the area of Fort Hunt Road and Belle Haven Road.
