Subway Shop Armed Robbery: Police Release Photos of Suspect

Suspect displayed handgun while grabbing cash from register at Subway sandwich shop at Woodlawn shopping center off Richmond Highway.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- Fairfax County Police have released photos of a suspect they say robbed a Subway Sandwich shop at gunpoint Monday night, off of Richmond Highway.

Officers responded to the report of an armed robbery at the Subway sandwich shop at 8768 Richmond Highway, on Monday, Dec. 12, shortly before 9 p.m.

During the initial investigation, officers learned that a man came into the shop alone and sat at a table by himself. He got up several times to look out the front door. When the last customer left, the man approached the counter and ordered food. When the employee opened the cash register, the man jumped over the counter, drew a handgun, placed it at the employee’s side and pushed her away from the register, police said. The suspect then grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register, jumped back over the counter and ran out of the store, according to police. The employee was not injured.
