Walgreens To Offer Coronavirus Vaccination Access In Virginia
As Walgreens receives a greater allocation of vaccine doses, it will expand vaccinations to new states.
VIRGINIA — Walgreens is expected to expand COVID-19 vaccine access to additional states, including Virginia, as it receives more weekly doses beginning Feb. 25.
As part of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program, Walgreens began in-store vaccinations on Feb. 12 in 15 states and territories with a weekly allocation of 180,000. Starting Feb. 25, Walgreens will receive over 480,000 doses weekly and will become a vaccine provider in these additional states: Alaska, California, Georgia, Maine, Nevada, Ohio, Utah, Virginia and Wyoming.
When Walgreens began in-store vaccinations on Feb. 12, nearly all 180,000 doses of the weekly allocation were given within three days. The initial locations for Walgreens vaccines have been Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Vermont, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Details on appointment start dates or locations in Virginia were not immediately available. Once appointments become available, residents can seek appointments with a Walgreens account at Walgreens.com/ScheduleVaccine. Walgreens is following individual state eligibility requirements for vaccine appointments.
CVS is already offering COVID-19 vaccine appointments at select Virginia locations. Appointments are open to people 65 and older, and appointment slots have filled up quickly so far.

Walgreens and CVS are also part of a separate federal for vaccination to provide vaccination clinics at participating long-term care facilities. Walgreens also announced Friday it has finished first dose clinics at all long-term care facilities that selected Walgreens as the vaccine provider. It has provided over 3 million doses to date at long-term care facilities as well as vulnerable populations prioritized by states and localities.
