West Potomac Ranks 43rd In D.C. Area

An annual Washington Post index ranks WPHS in list of over 170 area schools in terms of college-level testing and graduation rates

If West Potomac High School were a student, it would graduate in the 25th percentile for area high schools this year. 

In his yearly High School Challenge index, Washington Post education reporter Jay Matthews ranks Washington area high schools for how effectively they prepare students for college. West Potomac came in at number 43.

Specifically, Matthews took the from 2010 and divided it by the number of seniors graduating from the high school.

The resulting number, used to rank over 170 local high school, isn't a measure of a school's overall quality, but "can reveal the level of a high school’s commitment to preparing average students for college," Matthews said.
