• Harrisonburg pair sentenced in overdose death of Northern Virginia teen (rocktownnow.com) — Two Harrisonburg residents have been sentenced to long federal prison terms for distributing counterfeit pills containing fentanyl that killed an 18-year-old Northern Virginia high school student in 2023. Prosecutors say the drugs were sourced in Harrisonburg, with one defendant supplying the pills and another, then a JMU student, passing them along. The case underscores how locally sold fentanyl can have deadly consequences far beyond the city.
