• Public Auction of Derelict Airplane (fauquiernow.com) — A derelict 1954 Grumman airplane will be auctioned at Warrenton-Fauquier Airport on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, with cash-only bidding and no minimum price. The county aims to recover unpaid fees and requires the buyer to post a refundable $2,000 bond and remove the plane by Feb. 27, 2026, or face legal action. 
• Kettle Run football falls in double-OT state championship thriller (fauquiernow.com) — Kettle Run High School’s football team, which serves many Warrenton families, fell 48–42 in a double-overtime heartbreaker to Lake Taylor in the Class 3 state championship. Despite the missed game-winning field goal in regulation, the Cougars finished as state runners-up for the second straight year and third time in four seasons.
