Applications Open Monday For Bonney Lake Small Business Grants
The city's "Thank Small, Think Local" grant program will be giving out $500,000 to help small businesses struggling because of the pandemic.
BONNEY LAKE, WA — The City of Bonney Lake will begin accepting applications for their “Thank Small, Think Local” grant program on Monday.
The program, passed by City Council and signed by Mayor Neil Johnson in late November, set aside a total of $500,000 to be used as grants to support small, local businesses that are struggling amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
In order to qualify, the business must:

- Own a physical, brick and mortar store located inside city limits.
- Have been in operation before March 1, 2020 and have a current Bonney Lake Business License.
- Employ 29 or fewer full time equivalent employees.
- Have lost money due to the COVID-19 pandemic or shut down regulations.
- Those expenses can include several things, like rent and mortgage payments, the cost of new marketing campaigns, difficulties retaining and supporting employees, and fees for facility cleaning and restoration.
The city says businesses will also need to upload their City of Bonney Lake business license endorsement, documentation showing their expenses, and a W-9 Form.
Successful applicants will receive between $1,500 and $10,000 each.

Organizers warn that grants will be considered on a first come, first served basis, so businesses should apply sooner, rather than later. The application period will begin at 9 a.m. Monday.
