Bonney Lake's Summer Event Season Begins

BONNEY LAKE, WA — Summer has officially come to Bonney Lake. The city kicked off its summer events season with Wednesday's Outdoor Market, but if you missed that — don't worry, there are a lot more events coming up this summer.

Here's a look at what is and is not returning this summer:

Returning events

The Outdoor Market and Tunes at Tapps have returned to Allan Yorke Park. Both events will be held 5 - 8 p.m. every Wednesday from July 7th - September 1st.

Kids Club will offer performances of kid friendly classical, new age and world music. The shows begin at 6:30 p.m. Allan Yorke Park and will be held every Monday from July 26 through August 30.

The Taste of Tapps food truck festival will return August 21 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Allan Yorke Park. The Bonney Lake Lions Club has also partnered with local breweries to bring back Taps on Tapps.

Pending or canceled events

Bonney Lake Days 2020 was cancelled, but this year's event is still up in the air. Normally the festival offers two days of stage shows, vendor booths and competitions, but city leaders say they still have yet to decide if it will come back this summer.

Movie in the Park also may or may not return this summer, though the city has promised an update on that event soon.

National Night Out, an annual event organized by the Bonney Lake Police Department and East Pierce Fire and Rescue to raise crime and drug prevention awareness, has been cancelled. It will return in August 2022.

The annual Salute to Armed Forces 2021 is also pending. Traditionally one of the most popular events of the summer, the city says it is still working on a plan to bring the event back.
