Authorities in Georgia have arrested a man suspected of shooting and killing a man at a Sumner hotel in december.
Sumner Police Chief Brad Moericke announced that members of the Dekalb County Sheriff's Fugitive Task Force in Georgia arrested 29-year-old Quentin Lorenzo Simmons related to the fatal shooting at the Sumner Motor Inn on December 16, 2012.
Simmons was arrested on a Pierce County Superior Court warrant charging murder 1 and three counts of assault 1 from the shooting incident. On May 7, 2013, Pierce County issued the warrants of arrest for Simmons and his accomplice, Elyse Lattimer, also 29 years old.
Investigations led by Sumner Police Department revealed that both Lattimer and Simmons were residing in the greater Atlanta, Georgia, area, and Sumner’s Detective Temple made arrangements with the Dekalb County task force to assist with the apprehension of Lattimer and Simmons. Lattimer was arrested on her warrant on May 9. Detective Temple met members of the Task Force in Georgia and obtained an interview and full confession from Lattimer, who is scheduled to be extradited to Washington sometime next week, according to the department.
At this time, it is not yet known when Simmons will be extradited to Washington.
“I am very pleased that we can finally bring some conclusion and justice to the victims and their families,” Moericke said. “Sumner thanks the many law enforcement professionals throughout the country who assisted us in this case.”
