Bonney Lake 4th Of July Fireworks: 2020 Guide

Patch has your complete guide to Fourth of July fireworks shows, parades and other festive events in and around Pierce County.

BONNEY LAKE, WA — July 4 events across the country will not look the same this year thanks to the coronavirus. Many cities and towns have been forced to cancel or alter their annual Fourth of July events, including three of the biggest shows in Pierce County.

Both Tacoma's T-Town Family 4th (formerly the Tacoma Freedom Fair) and Freedom Fest at JBLM have been delayed due to the pandemic. Organizers of both say they have plans for events later in the summer, which they hope to announce soon.

However, one show, the annual Red, White and KABOOM at the state fair in Puyallup, has survived by turning into a drive-in event.

While we aren’t able to hold this event as we have in years past, we have re-imagined our annual 4th of July event as a Drive-In celebration! Brought to you by the Puyallup / Sumner Chamber of Commerce and Bill Korum's Puyallup Nissan, the fun happens at the Blue lot at the Washington State Fairgrounds. Decorate your car (win prizes), enjoy streamed live music, prize drawings, food trucks, and a walking map to local dining. The evening will culminate with a spectacular Fireworks Display brought to you by MultiCare.

To gain access to the Blue VIP lot, drivers will need to pay for the $20 vehicle pass in advance on the Puyallup Summer Chamber's website. The governor's Phase 2 guidance for drive-in theaters will also be in effect, meaning visitors will need to wear masks or cloth facial coverings, and practice safe social distancing while in line for food trucks and restrooms.

On Wednesday, the Tacoma Rainiers announced they would also be putting on a fireworks show from Cheney Stadium. Fans won't be allowed to watch from inside the stadium, but can gather in the surrounding neighborhoods to watch the show.
