Bonney Lake Police: Car Chase Spans Three Cities, Kids Cook Lighter in Microwave and Friend Helps Turn In DUI Suspect

July 23, 2013
Fleeing Law Enforcement: A man was to be booked into Pierce County Jail on two counts of reckless driving, two counts of first-degree assault and one count of attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle after he led officers on a high-speed chase from Bonney Lake to Buckley along State Route 410 and eventually into Orting beginning at about 6:30 p.m. During the pursuit, he reportedly tried to ram an unmarked police vehicle twice though the officer of that vehicle was wearing full police apparel. He lost control of his vehicle just west of Orville Road East on SR 162 and rolled over but was not injured. He was taken to the hospital and observed overnight due to his appearance of being on an unknown type and quantity of drugs.

Vehicle Prowl: Police received a report at 9:26 a.m. that someone had broken into a vehicle in the loading dock behind Fred Meyer and stolen a black gym bag.
Property Damage: Police responded to the 11300 block of Ashton Avenue at 8:20 p.m. for a report that someone had tried to start a fire with a microwave. The officer noted the residence was new construction that had not been finished and the microwave was used by workers on the job site. The interior was covered in black soot and smelled of burning plastic with the melted remains of a plastic and metal cigarette lighter. A witness reported seeing a group of juveniles between ages 12 and 13 in the area at about the same time.

Beer Theft: Police arrested a man for the theft of an 18-pack of Budweiser from the AM/PM gas station on the 20800 block of State Route 410 after initially receiving a report of the shoplifting at about 1:30 a.m. The officer spoke with the store employee for a description of the suspect and his vehicle, and he recalled an earlier instance in which a similar vehicle was located at a party complaint where a group was made to empty out their remaining beer. The officer followed up at the original location and located the suspect that fit the employee's description along with the Budweiser. The employee later confirmed it was the same person.
Vehicle Prowl: An officer observed two suspects fleeing from the area of the business complex on the 9700 block of 214th Avenue East at 2:24 a.m. and upon following up noted a window of one of the business vehicles parked there had been broken. An employee contacted police the next morning and reported some paper work from the glove box was missing.
July 26, 2013
Shoplifting: While responding to Target to follow up on an earlier shoplifting case, an officer was notified of surveillance that showed a woman who may be affiliated with that suspect also steal a camera and Blue Tooth set from the store at about the same time. The surveillance showed an Asian/Pacific Islander female, about 45 years old with long black hair tied up wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and black high-heeled boots.

Theft of Vehicle Part: Police responded to the 20100 block of Church Lake Drive East at 9:38 p.m. for a report someone had stolen a decorative chrome molding from an Oldsmobile Cutlass that had been parked there for most of the day.
July 28, 2013
DUI: Police cited a man for DUI after responding to the 7700 block of 193rd Avenue East at 6:55 a.m. for a report of a one-car rollover collision. The driver fled the scene before officers arrived but his friend helped identify him in short while later.

Theft: A resident at a retirement home on the 9500 block of 198th Avenue East reported at 2:27 p.m. that about $360 in cash was missing from her room where only herself, her family members and facility staff members had access. The theft occurred between 7:30 p.m. on July 24 and 9 a.m. on July 29.
July 30, 2013
Residential Burglary: A citizen reported at 10:44 a.m. that someone had entered his detached garage at his home on the 19500 block of 94th Street East and stolen a number of items including chain saws, an outboard motor with attached gas tank and a pressure washer. No forced entry was observed as the resident reported the garage was not secure. The thefts were believed to have happened between 12 p.m. July 1 and 9 a.m. July 30.
Residential Burglary: Police responded to a home on the 4900 block of N. Island Drive at 2:48 p.m. for a report someone broken into a detached garage by cutting a pad lock and stole some hand tools. The theft occurred sometime between 7 p.m. on July 28 and 7 p.m. July 29.
Shoplifting: Police arrested a man for third-degree theft and second-degree criminal trespass after he was observed stealing a backpack from Walmart at about 7 p.m. The man was detained nearby in a vehicle where the driver was also found to have a warrant out of Buckley and was arrested as well. The theft suspect had previously been trespassed from the store before.
