Bonney Lake Police: Citizens Block Suspected DUI Driver from Fleeing Scene

The following information from June 11 to June 19 was provided by the Bonney Lake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

June 11, 2013 

Vehicle Prowl: Police responded to a home on the 7700 block of 185th Avenue East at 6:25 p.m. for a report someone entered three vehicles on the property that were unlocked and stole several items including a GPS unit, binoculars, pocket knife, headphones, cell phone and loose change.

Injured Deer: Police dispatched a deer that had been gravely injured, most likely by a vehicle, on the 17700 block of State Route 410 at about 7:30 a.m.

Shoplifting: Police responded to Target at 6:16 p.m. for a report an older white male was seen stealing a digital camera and leaving the scene in a dark-colored Ford Thunderbird.

Burglary: Police responded to a home on the 4800 block of North Island Drive at 9:17 p.m. for a report the front door was suspiciously open. The owner was contacted as well and both found the only thing that appeared to be missing was a $300 kitchen sink and faucet. An additional $250 in damages was made to the front door and door frame when the suspect or suspects broke in.  The break-in was believed to have occurred after June 8.

June 13, 2013 

Theft from Vehicle: A citizen reported at 8:53 a.m. that a laptop was stolen from his vehicle parked on the 19100 block of Church Lake Road sometime after 8 p.m. the previous night. Access appeared to have been gained through the driver’s side door which may have been unlocked.

Vehicle Prowl: A citizen reported at 12:43 p.m. that a spare trailer tire was stolen from a Ford F-150 truck parked in the driveway of his residence on the 7400 block of Vandermark Road, sometime between 8 p.m. the previous night and that morning.

June 14, 2013 

Residential Burglary: Police responded to a residence on the 19200 block of Church Lake Road at 11:30 a.m. for a reporting of a break-in. A window appeared to have been pried open. A scale was stolen and two copper tubes were cut from a tank in the garage.

Shoplifting: Police responded to Safeway at 9:36 p.m. for a report two teenage white males were seen stealing an unknown brand of whiskey along with a case of bottled water from the store and fleeing in a black Ford Mustang with Colorado license plates.

June 15, 2013

DUI: An officer working Target Zero emphasis patrol at about 12:38 a.m. in Sumner stopped and arrested a driver of a white Dodge Caravan for DUI after seeing it drifting into adjacent lanes while headed westbound on State Route 410 after Valley Avenue.

DUI: Citizens near Safeway used their own vehicles to block a suspected DUI driver from leaving the parking lot, allowing police who responded at about 5:30 p.m. to detain and arrest the man, who was reportedly ramming several vehicles in an attempt to leave.  He was arrested for DUI and hit and run.

Theft and Obstruction: Police arrested a man for theft and obstruction after responding to Walmart at 7:38 p.m. for a report he was seen stealing items from the store and fraudulently returning an item for cash. A female seen with them told police she had a change of heart and did not steal anything but had helped him with the fraud. Both were trespassed from the store. The man was also charged with obstruction because he initially lied about his identity.

June 16, 2013

Attempted Shoplifting: Police responded to Walmart at 12:40 p.m. for a report of an earlier shoplifting attempt of more than $440 in merchandise. The suspect was described as a white female in her mid 20s to early 30s. She drove away in a vehicle described as white, 90s four-door sedan.

June 17, 2013

Mail Box Tampering: Police received several reports on June 16 and June 17 that mailboxes on the 6100 block of 185th Avenue East were broken into.

June 18, 2013

Residential Burglary: Police responded to a home on the 8100 block of 205th Avenue East at 6:45 p.m. for a report the home was entered and more than $800 in electronic equipment was stolen. Entry may have been gained through an unlocked window.

June 19, 2013

Counterfeit: Employees at Shari’s reported at 12:35 a.m. a customer had placed a pie order and asked for some change, presenting employees with two fake $5 bills.
