Bonney Lake Police Gets New Vehicle to Help Patrol Wooded Areas

KING5 reports the department is responding to a rash of recent vehicle prowls with the help of a donated Kawasaki Mule.

It looks a little like a golf cart on steroids.

In fact, the Kawasaki Mule is an all-terrain vehicle that enables Bonney Lake Police officers to now pursue suspects that lead them to the wooded areas south of State Route 410's business district that includes Fred Meyer and Safeway.

According to a KING5 report, officers in the past had difficulty accessing the area that they believe is home to suspected prowlers responsible for a rash of vehicle prowls in the last few weeks.

The Mule helps officers reach areas they previously couldn't reach by foot or on a bike.

Meanwhile, citizens can take some extra precautions as well to keep from getting ripped off. The department tweeted Tuesday: "The BLPD has noticed an increase in vehicle prowls in our business district the last month. Please do not leave valuables inside your car!"
