Bonney Lake Police: Teens Fall Ill After Consuming THC-Laced Cookies, At Least $10,000 in Tools Stolen from Truck, and Burglars Cut Holes in Roof to Gain Entry
The following information from May 24 through June 11 was provided by the Bonney Lake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

May 24, 2013
Theft: Police responded to an apartment on the 9000 block of Main Street at 8:35 a.m. for a report someone broke the passenger side window of a vehicle parked in the carport and stole a Samsun Galaxy tablet and iPod Touch.Â

Theft: A citizen reported at about 8:30 a.m. his work truck parked in front of his home on the 19500 block of 99th Street Court East was broken into after 9 p.m. on the previous day and between $10,000 to $15,000 in tools was stolen from the back. The responding officer noted the thief had attempted to drill the lock to gain access to the truck bed but later using something to pry the doors open. The doors and locks were also damaged at an estimate of at least $500.

Shoplifting: Target employees identified a known subject involved in removing a security device and stealing a web camera from the store at about 9:30 a.m. that morning. He was mailed a third-degree theft citation for the stolen item, valued at about $129.
Eluding: Police were unable to detain a blue-colored off road four-wheeler being driven by a while male in a dark blue long sleeve shirt and yellow reflective bars on the back after making initial contact at about 12:46 p.m. on the 9400 block of Sky Island Drive. The officer activated overhead lights and siren but the other driver continued to elude at speeds between 40 mph and 45 mph before finally turning into an old gravel road that was blocked by a large concrete cylinder. The officer was not able to locate the driver in the area.
Tossing Items Out Car Window: An off-duty officer reported that at about 6:55 p.m., his own vehicle was struck in the windshield by a bottle thrown out of the sun roof of a Jeep as both traveled northbound on Sky Island Drive at about the 17600 block. The officer contacted the driver of the Jeep and advised him a police report would be done. The officer didn’t seek charges and the other party apologized for his actions. No visible damage was done to the officer’s vehicle.

Cell Phones Found: A citizen turned in two cell phones – a black Verizon Spectrum and a black Spring cell phone – found by the life jacket kiosk and the dike expansion area of Allan Yorke Park.Â
Reckless Driving: Police cited a juvenile driver for reckless driving after her vehicle collided with a set of mailboxes and a yard waste bin before crashing into a wooded area on the 18300 block of 74th Street East at about 12:46 p.m. A witness said she had been speeding and she, along with her passenger, admitted she was going at least 50 mph in a 25 mph zone.  She initially lied to police about the presence of a passenger for fear she was in violation of her provisional license and that she didn’t want her parents to know she had a passenger.

Not an Edible: Three juveniles fell violently ill after they all consumed cookies that later were revealed to contain high levels of THC. The students – some trying initially to cover for one another - told police they got the cookies from a fellow student. Two of them knew it was supposed to contain marijuana. The student who supplied the cookies initially told police he took marijuana-laced butter from his father, who used marijuana for chronic pain, and made marijuana-laced cookies. He later admitted the drugs did not come from his father but from another student. He received it in the form of a yellowish extract which he combined with ready made cookie dough from the store to make his own cookies. He was suspended from school for the last four days of the school year. The case was forwarded to Remann Hall.

License Plate Stolen: A citizen reported at 10:29 a.m. that his back license plate was stolen from his vehicle that was parked in his driveway on the 11100 block of 184th Place East overnight. A neighbor reported seeing some suspicious activity at about 4:15 a.m.
Vehicle Stolen, Recovered:Â A citizen reported at 12:25 p.m. that a Hertz rental car he had been driving for about three weeks had been stolen from a driveway on the 7200 block of 194th Avenue East sometime between 9 p.m. the previous day and 12 p.m. that day. The responding officer contacted Hertz and learned the vehicle was recovered the previous night in Carnation and had been towed after being abandoned in a ditch.
Shoplifting: One person was cited for third-degree theft by mail after he was seen fleeing Safeway at about 4 p.m. with alcohol he had stolen. His companion had not fled with him and told police he didn’t know he would steal; he had planned to pay for his alcohol. Police noted the companion had an outstanding warrant from Federal Way and was taken into custody. The man who fled initially told police he wanted to return to the store with the stolen items and work out an agreement. Police were not able to contact him to follow up, so he was cited.
Not for Rent: Two women were trespassed from a resident on the 4800 block of North Island Drive East after the owner reported to police at 9:21 p.m. they appeared to be moving in though no one was supposed to have access. The women were moving in under the assumption the residence was for rent. The men who told them the place was for rent could not be reached by police.

Bike Found: A citizen reported a white and pink Mongoose Lyte was left at her apartment carport on the 7200 block of 194th Avenue East. Police took it in to evidence for safe keeping. It was not reported as stolen.Â
Vehicle Prowl: Police received a report at 2:26 p.m. that sometime after May 26, someone broke into a van belonging to the Church of the Nazarene on the 7400 block of Myers Road and stole the van’s stereo. The passenger side double doors were damaged and the latching mechanism no longer works to keep the doors closed. Church officials estimate the stereo was valued at about $100.Â
Vehicle Prowl: A citizen reported at 4:23 p.m. that someone entered his unlocked vehicle parked in his driveway on the 8000 block of 185th Avenue East sometime between 10 p.m. the previous day at 4 p.m. that day and stole about $5 in loose change from the ash tray.
DUI: Police arrested a man for DUI after an initial traffic stop for speeding at about 7 p.m. on the 7300 block of 194th Avenue East.Â

Attempted Burglary: Staff at Radio Shack reported at about 9:30 a.m. that sometime between 8 p.m. the previous night and 8 a.m. that morning, someone tried to get into the business by cutting two holes in the roof. No entrance appeared to have been gained though damages to the roof were estimated at about $1,000.
Reckless Driving: Police cited a 16-year-old driver for reckless driving after an off-duty Federal Way police officer reported the speeding and reckless driving on Angeline Road at about 2:30 p.m. before pulling him over and waiting with him for police to arrive. He admitted he was going at least 40 mph in the 25 mph, and the off-duty officer described the reckless driving that put other drivers at risk, including driving into other lanes of travel, over-correcting and driving into a dirt embankment.
