Children's Book by Sumner HS Grad Wins Gold Medal Benjamin Franklin Award

A book encouraging kids to create more than 50 pieces of shoe print drawings has received the Gold Medal Benjamin Franklin Award for the Bill Fisher Best First Book by Independent Book Publishers Association.

Shoe Print Art: Step into Drawing Step By Step was created by Karen S. Robbins, a 1962 graduate of Sumner High School who attended Sumner schools from third to twelfth grades.

Robbins is also the award winning author for her picture book, Care For Our World, illustrated by Alexandra Ball in U.K., published by Compendium Inc. in Seattle.

The Gold Medal is the highest national publishing award given to small and midsize independent publishers in the U.S.
