SUMNER, WA - Outgoing Sumner mayor Dave Enslow died Sunday morning, according the city. Enslow, 74, has been an elected official in Sumner for 20 years beginning with his election to City Council in 1998. He spent the last 12 years as mayor.
The city is flying flags at half mast this week in honor of Enslow's service to Sumner.
Early in the morning on Sunday, December 17, Mayor Dave Enslow passed away. We share this news with great sadness and a heavy heart. Mayor Enslow had generously served the City of Sumner for 20 years, the first eight on City Council and the past 12 as mayor. He was a great leader, mentor and friend to so many.
Yet, with his humble spirit, few probably realized the impact he made on the City of Sumner, this community and this region. We will miss him greatly. The retirement reception scheduled for this evening is cancelled.
We will update this page as we learn more of the Enslow family’s plans for a service. In the meantime, they appreciate the thoughts and prayers of our community. A few people have asked about sending cards, flowers, etc. Please send those to Sumner City Hall, 1104 Maple Street, Sumner WA 98390. We will make sure they reach the family.
The city was planning to hold a going-away party for Enslow Monday night. That event has been cancelled and the city will hold a memorial service at a later date.
