Major Sumner Road Reopens After Landslide [UPDATE]
Pierce County reported the slide shortly before 9 a.m. Thursday.

UPDATE: Pierce County reopened the roadway around 3 p.m. Thursday. Here's the original story:
SUMNER, WA - A landslide is blocking West Valley Highway in Sumner, according to Pierce County.
The slide was reported Thursday morning and has closed the stretch of West Valley Highway between Jovita Boulevard East and 1409 West Valley Highway, which is just north of 16th Street East. The closure affects a portion of the road that runs along the west side of SR 167.

Pierce County has not said when the roadway might reopen.
West Valley Hwy closed between Jovita Blvd and 1409 West Valley Hwy due to a mudslide blocking both lanes. Not estimated time for reopening.
