Lane Closures Planned For Sumner Tapps Highway Start Friday

The road closures are to remove dangerous trees, and are unrelated to the Sumner Grade Fire that closed SR 410.

SUMNER, WA — Commuters in Sumner will want to prepare for upcoming lane closures that are projected to last several days, starting Friday and continuing early next week.

The City of Sumner confirms that construction crews will be partially closing the Sumner Tapps Highway on Friday, September 18, and the following Monday and Tuesday as well. All closures will last between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Organizers say the closure is so crews can remove a few dangerously-unstable trees perched along the roadway, and is not related to the recent wildfires.
