Lost Golden Retriever Found, Returned Home Safe
Dinan was missing for a week following a car crash when a group of dog walkers found her Sunday morning behind the Sumner library.

SUMNER, WA — The golden retriever who went missing in Sumner following a car crash last month was found this past weekend and returned to her owner, who says everything appears to be back to normal.
Dinan fled the scene of a crash involving her owner's roommate on April 28. According to Dinan's owner, Sophia Vacca, Dinan was in the car when the crash occurred around 6 p.m. near the Sunset Chevrolet dealership, located at 910 Traffic Ave.
Dinan took off after the crash and was spotted several times by various people over the next week, Vacca said, adding that sightings were reported both in and outside of Sumner.

But on Sunday, May 5, a group who took their own dogs for a morning walk ran into Dinan when she came running from behind the Sumner Pierce County Library, located at 1116 Fryar Ave. — less than a half-mile from where she disappeared.
When Dinan was found, she was apparently in good health but was missing her harness.

Vacca said she believes someone nabbed Dinan to keep for themselves after the crash but let her go after the seeing the news reports and community response.
"She'd been fed and was unscathed," Vacca told Patch, noting Dinan could have been eating out of garbage cans for the past week, though she still believes someone had her. "Now she's eating and drinking normally — acting normal … everything is back to the way it was."
