University of Denver forward Dylan Gambrell was signed to a standard entry-level contract this week.

SAN JOSE, WA - Bonney Lake native Dylan Gambrell was signed this week by the NHL's San Jose Sharks. Gambrell, who was drafted in 2016 by the Sharks, is currently a junior at the University of Denver and plays forward.

According to the Sharks, Gambrell, 21, could continue to play through his senior year at Denver, but he may be invited to participate in the Sharks' training camp.

"Dylan is one of the top college players in the country, who has proven through his many accomplishments that he can compete at the highest level," General Manager Doug Wilson said this week. "We believe his speed, combined with his high-end hockey IQ, make him ready to be an NHL player. We are confident that, with his skill-set, he will make an impact with our team."
