Northeast Pierce County Regional Resource Spotlight: Food and Hot Meals

Patch aims to spotlight weekly listings compiled by community volunteer Monica Gaub in a comprehensive resource guide that she continues to update, supporting the areas of Sumner, Bonney Lake, Buckley and beyond.

The Northeast Pierce County Resource Guide focuses on basic needs and ways to get involved in the community through community service and support through donations.

  • Serves: Residents of Bonney Lake and greater area, proof of address required.
  • Open: Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays 10:00am – 1pm and Friday evenings 5pm – 7pm.
Bread of Life Food Bank: 14104 Prairie Ridge Drive E., (in Prairie Ridge) Bonney Lake; 360-897-9005
  • Serves: Residents in zip codes 98321, 98323, 98385, 98390, 98391, or 98396 with some restrictions.
  • Open: Wednesdays 10am – 1pm and Tuesday evenings 5pm -7pm.
  • Volunteer: Food pickup, sort & bag food, help make holiday food baskets, donate food & pet food.

  • Serves: Residents of Sumner & Bonney Lake.
  • Open: Mondays 10am-12pm, Wednesdays 4pm-7pm, and Fridays 10am-12pm.

  • Serves: Residents in zip codes 98390 Sumner/Bonney Lake and 98391 w/ Lake Tapps address.
  • Open: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday and Fridays from 1 – 3 pm, and Thursday evenings 5-7pm.
  • Volunteer: Sort and bag food, help make holiday food baskets. Donate Food.

Buckley Kiwanis Food Bank, 127 N. River Ave., Buckley; 253-266-7309
  • Serves: Residents in White River School Districts within zip code 98321
  • Open: Wednesdays 9am – 2pm and Fridays 9am – 12noon

Plateau Outreach Ministries Food Bank, 1806 Cole St., Enumclaw, 360-802-2220; www.plateauoutreach.com
  • Serves: Residents of Buckley, Bonney Lake, Carbonado, Wilkeson, South Prairie, & Enumclaw
  • Open: Wednesdays 9:30am – 12noon. Emergency Pantry open Mon – Sat 10am – 4pm. 

Prairie Ridge Wednesdays Free Community Dinner, at Rec Hall 14205 215th Ave. E., Bonney Lake; 253-897-8378
  • Serves: Community feeding program open to all with emphasis on Prairie Ridge families.
  • Open: Wednesdays from 6pm – 6:45pm. Family game time, bingo, karaoke, or crafts follows at 6:45. Some exceptions on scheduling (recommend liking “Prairie Ridge Community Coalition” on Facebook for updates).
  • Donate/Volunteer: Help serve or prepare meals. Food and supply donations. Sponsoring groups and individuals needed for expansion of program.

Buckley Soup on the 2nd Wednesdays at the Buckley Multi-Purpose Center, 811 Main St., Buckley. 253-829-0190.
  • Serves: Open to everyone. This event is sponsored by a different group each month. Bring your own bowl.
  • Open Second Wednesdays at 5:00 pm.
Summer Feeding Programs for Children: (please call for serving times and volunteer opportunities)
  • Sumner School District Locations: Daffodil Valley Elem. (Sumner) and Liberty Ridge Elem. (Bonney Lake). Call253-891-6000 for more information.

  • The Buckley Youth Activities Center provides free lunches during the summer (noon – 1:30) and school breaks.Adults can purchase lunches during the summer for $3.50. Located at 251 S. River Ave. in Buckley. www.cityofbuckley.com and click on “youth center”.
  • Sumner Skate Park: Free sack lunches offered Wednesdays from 3:45 – 4:30 March through October provided by the A.R.K. Foundation. www.arkserves.org
