Richard Sherman Makes Large Donation To Sumner Food Bank
The former Seahawks star sent several non-perishable items to a food drive at Sumner High School.

SUMNER, WA — He may not play for the Seahawks anymore, but Richard Sherman clearly still has a place in his heart for Western Washington. Blanket Coverage, a foundation Sherman founded in 2013, sent several non-perishable food items to Sumner High School Wednesday, where students were collecting donations for Sumner Community Food Bank. The high school posted photos on social media showing tall stacks of soup, tuna, and other food piled throughout a school office.

According to the foundation's website, Sherman created Blanket Coverage to help students in need get school supplies and clothing. Sherman said he was inspired to follow in the footsteps of his childhood hero, Magic Johnson, who once visited his high school in Compton.
Previously Blanket Coverage has partnered with World Vision in Fife, to assemble backpacks filled with school supplies. In 2017, the foundation gave away thousands of backpacks, full of snacks and other necessities, to homeless people in Seattle and Tacoma.
