Road Work To Hinder Major Sumner Street

About 18,000 commuters and freight haulers use 142nd Avenue East each weekday, according to city officials.

SUMNER, WA - The repaving project along 142nd Avenue East and 24th Street East may slow traffic this weekend. According to the city, the road handles about 18,000 vehicles use the route each day, and the repaving project will reduce the road's capacity.

Here's the traffic alert put out by the city of Sumner:

Friday night through Saturday morning (May 11-12), paving will start at the UP railroad tracks (yellow line on map). They will be working on the south/west side of the road, affecting businesses along the way. You may not be able to access your driveway for approximately two hours while the pavement cools. From Monday night to Tuesday morning (May 14-15), they’ll continue from 32nd Avenue area south to the Tacoma Avenue bridge (green line). Again, this will affect driveways on the west side of the project.
