Rollover Crash Ends Police Chase In Edgewood Monday: WSP
One driver was hurt after rolling his car near SR-167 and Freightliner Northwest, east of Edgewood, early Monday.
EDGEWOOD, WA — One person was hurt in a rollover crash near Edgewood early Monday that essentially concluded a police chase through the area, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The unidentified driver was reportedly taken to MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital with moderate injuries after he was extricated from his damaged vehicle with help from East Pierce Fire & Rescue.
According to WSP officials, a trooper spotted the driver speeding approximately 80 mph on State Route 167 around 2:30 a.m. May 6. When the trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop the driver reportedly sped off.

Coming off SR-167 onto Eighth Street/Jovita Boulevard east, the speeding driver reportedly lost control, jumped a ditch and rolled over a walking path into a power pole, trapping himself in the wrecked vehicle right next to Freightliner Northwest.
East Pierce crews reportedly needed to remove the damaged vehicle's roof to get the driver out.

Impairment is not being considered a factor in this incident, though the driver will likely face charges for eluding.
