Lakeridge Middle School Co-principals Steve Fulkerson and Toby Udager sent out a helpful reminder this week to parents regarding the property 'beach' attire for the school's 'Fun in the Sun' Dance Friday. They wrote: "Go ahead and laugh. Just help us out with school appropriate sun clothing. We are not going to write a rubric or post sunny dance clothing guidelines. We have trust in our students and parents/guardians that we can have such a dance theme, selected by our ASB representatives, and still maintain a safe and civil atmosphere." Their wariness as administrators is understandable but it got us wondering... Parents, please share: had any of your kids actually considered attending the dance in less than appropriate clothing? How did you address that? Who sets the standards and example in your household for appropriate attire social situations both in and out of school, and how do you enforce it? By the way, how was the dance?
