Sumner Launches Virtual Open House Detailing Upcoming Projects
In lieu of the annual in-person open house, this year the city is hosting a virtual event to answer questions and explain upcoming projects.
SUMNER, WA — Curious what's changing in Sumner? Well, the city will be glad to tell you.
While they couldn't hold an in-person open house this year, the city has opted to do the next best thing: launch a virtual open house, where residents can hear from city leaders about what they have planned for the year ahead.
"We're getting a heck of a lot of things done," says Mayor Bill Pugh in a recorded message welcoming visitors to the open house. "Staff has been incredibly busy, even though they've had to work from home and deal with all the COVID constraints. I think they've actually been busier than ever."

Along with Pugh, visitors can also hear from Associate City Engineer Michael Kosa about the Academy Street Bike Lanes Project, and from Derek Barry, Sumner's community services manager, who takes a look at the future of Sumner's parks and trails, among several other speakers.
Residents also have the opportunity to submit questions, and have those questions answered by city leaders.

Sumner was forced to do a similar virtual open house last year, near the beginning of the pandemic, but say they're hopeful next year they can return to normal.
In the meantime, you can visit the open house at the City of Sumner's website. It will remain open until June 8th.
