Sumner Police: 10th Hole Angers Golfer and Disgruntled Customer Pushes Employee
The following information from Aug. 22 to Aug. 27 was provided by the Sumner Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Aug. 22, 2013
Unhappy Gilmore: Officers responded to the Sumner Golf Course for a report a golfer had assaulted a fellow golfer. The victim told police the subject attempted to punch him and then grabbed him by the neck and threw him to the ground. The subject reportedly got mad that he was told to start at hole 10. He was described as wearing a white polo with white and grey plaid shorts. Police located a cart dumped over by the shop on the south end of the course and some witnesses said he proceeded to walk off the course toward 24th Street on foot.

Residential Burglary: Officers responded to a residential alarm at about 3 p.m. for a home on the 2300 block of East Valley Highway and found that the sliding door on the front of the house had been shattered. After securing the scene, officers were unable to determine if anything was taken. Attempts to reach the homeowner had been unsuccessful at the time the report was written.

Alcohol in the Park: Police trespassed an adult female and a juvenile female from the sports complex after responding to the park at about 6 p.m. because they saw several individuals appear to be drinking. The juvenile was also cited for lying to police and for minor in possession of alcohol. The adult was cited for open container in the park.

Customer Always Right? Police responded to a business on the 1700 block of Fryar Avenue at about 3 p.m. for a report a customer had just assaulted an employee. The known customer had left the property when officers arrived and the employee stated he was upset he didn’t receive service in a timely manner.

Commercial Burglary: Police responded to a business on 142nd Avenue East at about 9:30 a.m. for a report someone broken into the property and stole an industrial rack/shelving system. An employee estimated about 20 to 30 posts and 20 rails were stolen. A local metal recycling business reported later in the day someone tried to sell them a rack system that was similar in description to the one stolen from this business. The investigation into the theft was ongoing at the time the report was written.
