Sumner Police: Burglars Rip Off Local Businesses, and Couple's Argument Gets Physical in Front of Child

The following information from May 24 to May 29 was provided by the Sumner Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

May 24, 2013  

Vehicle Prowl: A citizen reported at 2:56 a.m. that someone had broken out the passenger side window of her vehicle on the 1600 block of Valley Avenue and stolen her purse. She reported the theft happened sometime after 2 a.m. and when she walked back to her vehicle an hour later, the window was broken.  

May 25, 2013  

Commercial Burglary: Police responded to a business on the 14800 block of Golf Links Drive East at about 4 a.m. for a report of a tripped alarm. Staff and officers found that someone had cut a hole in the ceiling of the business in an attempt to gain entry but tripped the alarm. They did not appear to have gotten into the property before fleeing. Police found a flat-tip screwdriver at the scene, believed to have been used to cut into the ceiling.  

May 26, 2013  

Domestic Disturbance: Police responded to a home on the 7000 block of 142nd Avenue East at 9:37 p.m. for a report of a disturbance between a man and woman. The woman told police she had gotten into an argument with a man she was dating around 9 p.m. and at some point, he had grabbed her by the wrists and hands and pinned her to the floor by holding her around the neck.  The woman’s 7-year-old son was present during the confrontation. The man had left the scene when police arrived.  

May 29, 2013  

Commercial Burglary: Police responded to The Peoples Builder at 1125 57th Street East at 6:33 a.m. for a report that the property had been burglarized overnight, several vehicles on site prowled and one 2005 Ford F250 pick up truck with the license plate B98517U and described as a white quad cab with a black ladder rack and a fueling station in the bed of the truck stolen. Three paint sprayers were stolen from two other vehicles.  Employees found the cable that was locked on the property gate had been cut.  

Commercial Burglary: Police responded to Discount Tire of Washington Warehouse at 14321 32nd Street East at 8:28 a.m. for a report of a burglary and vehicle prowl. Two padlocks that secured the back of a van and a storage container were cut, and staff believed an unknown number of scrap wheels were stolen. Surveillance video shows a vehicle described as a mid 90s two-tone Ford Explorer with two people in it entering the property at 2:38 a.m.
